I'm extremely skeptical. I see people on OCD forums all the time who have either taken this approach or wish that it would work. I haven't seen any who have overcome their OCD with this method, however.

ReplyDeleteJust wanted to note that i didn't mean that comment to be critical, just that while it sounds like a great idea, it seems to be very hard to put into practice.
ReplyDeleteI went to hear Ian Osborne speak at the IOCDF conference a few years ago, and he was very clear that ultimately Exposure therapy was the engine of getting better from OCD, and that the "Responsibility Transfer" to God, isn't an instant cure, but more a way to find strength to do exposures, if you are of the Christian faith. I don't like the title of the book, because it implies that you just pray and are healed, but that's not the impression I got from Mr. Osborn.
